“Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust , we all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible piper”
(Albert Einstein)

After the summer break, Galleria360 reopens its exhibition rooms with a collective exhibition entitled “Rhythms of emotions”.

In 1881, in a famous letter to his brother Theo, Vincent Van Gogh wrote that every painter has his favorite chromatic tones that would allow the artist to cross the darkness of his heart to find the light. In the same letter he also states that some artists have “the majestic quality of using their hands with the virtuosity of a violinist” and that some artworks “are pure music”. A few years later, again from the correspondence exchanged with his brother, we learn of Van Gogh’s decision to study piano. However, the experience will have an unfortunate outcome. In fact, shortly after starting, the artist reveals to his music teacher that playing piano is something strange for him; each note in fact evoked a color. The teacher, seeing in these statements the clear sign of his mental illness, throws him out of the music school.
This anecdote can only make us smile, because what for the teacher was a clear symptom of madness, actually turned out to be Van Gogh’s greatest gift. In fact, his ability to associate chromatic sensations to musical stimuli gave to his works that extraordinary vitality and expressiveness that distinguishes them. That is why in the yellow-orange tones of his “Sunflowers” you can hear the cheerful tinkle of life or in the “Starry Night” the blue seems to evoke the sound of an intense adage that keeps us suspended between dreams and poetry.
Just like Van Gogh, the artists of the “Rhythms of emotions” exhibition entrust their meditation on feelings and life to pure and instinctive color. An artistic exhibition that is where the melodic rhythm of emotions pulsates, fluctuates free and vibrates under the skin of the works giving life to an artistic polyphony capable of shaping the original chaos into new dancing stars; to bring back the interiority of a world that is dormant in the silence of our soul. In the contemporary art exhibition “Rhythms of emotions”, art, guided by the rhythm of emotions, delves into the invisible motions that govern the soul and the world.
