Usually, we speak of globalization by applying it to mechanisms of economic origin, but it is also observed in the context of aesthetic practices. The extraordinary mobility, the increasing globalization process, the digital revolution, the affirmation of social networks as the main means of communication have in fact determined a breakdown of physical and cultural boundaries.

The mutations imposed by globalization have brought to the fore new cultures and, consequently, new artistic territories to explore and confront, favoring the exchange and hybridization between different cultures and languages. This has generated new models of thought, opening new and unpredictable development horizons to the world of art as well. In a social, political, cultural and artistic process that is making the whole world “one country”, the artist therefore places himself as a traveler, as an experimenter, constantly poised between physical and symbolic territories.

If the encounter and comparison between different cultures and techniques is a source of enrichment, on the other hand it can generate a sense of precariousness. In an uncertain era like ours, made up of continuous promises and disappointments, the artists who exhibit at the “Internation-Art” exhibition, through different expressive methodologies, provide us with a “compass” to orient ourselves in this cultural multilingualism: that is cultural identity and personal. In fact, if on the one hand the exhibition highlights the cultural pluralism that distinguishes today’s societies, on the other it also emphasizes the importance of remaining faithful to our uniqueness, avoiding impoverishing subjectivity in favor of sterile homologations.

Therefore through their artworks, the artists of “Internation-Art” relate to a rapidly changing world; but in this chaotic becoming they show us how artistic expression does not arise from the fixity of judgment, but from continuous interaction and contamination, while at the same time safeguarding the idea of art as a place of individualism and otherness.
