December is the month of the most popular festivity, full of traditions, charm and folklore: Christmas! Also Galleria360 gives its personal welcome at Christmastime, organizing an artistic kermesse entitled “Christmas Expo”, which will be attended by foreign artists established on the international scene.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday 3rd December 2021 at 7.30 pm at the new Galletia360’s headquarters in via Borgo Ognissanti 77r, Florence. During the vernissage Jazz musicians will play live. According to the decree law of 23 July 2021, n. 105, from 6 August 2021, access to the gallery is allowed only to visitors in possession of the covid-19 green pass.
Despite the laws of the capitalist market, that are profoundly modifying nature and symbolic meaning of this festivity, the magic of Christmas always brings us back to a suggestive atmosphere: the streets are filled with decorations, the squares are full of markets, the windows of the houses shine at the rhythmic alternation of the lights of Christmas trees adorned with multicolored decorations and with the inevitable nutcracker. Become a symbol of Christmas, the German wooden soldier has always been one of the most requested and collected ornaments. The myth comes from the famous ballet by Tchaikovsky, based on the readjustment by Alexandre Dumas of a story by the German writer Hoffmann, entitled “The Nutcracker and the King of the Rats”. The “Nutcracker” is one of the most fascinating stories on Christmas Eve; an enchanting fable that opens the doors of the deepest unconscious through the dreamlike dimension. The ugly nutcracker, a toy targeted and laughed by kids and adults, turns into the white knight who during Christmas night will transport Clara in a parallel universe, allowing her to escape into a better world, far from the rigidity and obligations of a family sphere that no longer belongs to her. In the sphere of dreams, of freedom and fantasy, Clara therefore finds her dimension becoming a beautiful fairy who can finally dance with her prince a grandiose pas de deux.
Likewise, the artworks of the artists participating in “Christmas Expo” recreate the same magic of the “Nutcracker”: through the enchantment of colors, the freedom of a gesture that obeys only an interior dictation and thanks to a boundless fantasy, each artistic creation transports us to other dimensions, guiding us into the jungle of emotions that distinguishes human existence and raising strongly the layers of the submerged atlantide of our unconscious. And if the wooden nutcracker becomes the symbol of our dreams, of our deepest aspirations, too often frustrated by the reality that surrounds us and, the young Clara that of transformation, “Christmas Expo” proposes a journey to the rediscovery of the most intimate part of each of us, that is the most genuine and passionate one, accessible only to those who believe that everything is possible. Because the true magic of Christmas is also this: trust that your dreams can become reality.
