Biography:

Born in 1964, I live and work in Celle.
I have always been interested in art. My greatest role models are Gerhard Richter and Alberto Burri.
My paintings are created layer by layer from different structural materials – such as marble powder, stone powder, coffee, swamp lime and various building materials. When creating the structures, I let myself be guided by my feelings, memories and inspirations from nature. Structures, cracks and unforeseen image developments in the drying process inspire me.I respond to the backgrounds created in this way. I make all my colours myself from pigments and various binders. With these colours and stains, inks, chalks, wax and oils I create a tension of colours and surfaces in the picture. Through application and removal, the picture changes in the process of creation, substrates are covered and partly uncovered again from deeper layers.  In this processual and experimental work, a three-dimensionality and visual colour spaces emerge that often only gradually open up to the viewer.
