At Galleria360 the month of October opens with an autumn full of artistic events; during the opening reception, which will take place on Tuesday 3rd October 2023 at 7.30 pm in via Borgo Ognissanti 77r Florence, the personal exhibition “Layered Vision” by the artist Lawrence Armstrong and the collective exhibition entitled, “Lost in Art” will be presented.
Lawrence Armstrong is an American artist, designer, successful architect and CEO of a dynamic international architecture firm. His artistic research ranges from complex three-dimensional experiments focused on the concept of intersection and juxtaposition, to paintings where he demonstrates his creative ingenuity, focusing on the exploration of chromatic relationships. Thus the artist investigates the tensions between opposing forces, animating the surfaces with strong internal vibrations and giving life to an abstraction that never results in an empty decorative game, but which is always precise in the studied balance between spatial quantities, lines and colors.
“Lost in Art” is instead an artistic exhibition that teaches us to look beyond the materiality of our mere existence, to overcome the ordinary by showing us, through the thaumaturgical power of art, new horizons of meaning and hope. Art, in its ability to make visible what is not visible, to transcribe those invisible movements that govern the soul and the world, constitutes a sort of magical practice with a strong power of fascination. In fact, works of art, through aesthetic beauty or a sense of the sublime, are able to provoke a sort of catharsis, a spell in the observer: that of freeing us from pain and boredom by removing ourselves from the infinite chain of needs and worries. Through their works, the artists of “Lost in Art” cheer us up, lighten us up, alleviating the heaviness of life, stimulating our feelings. Aesthetic consolation, creating a sort of magical Apollonian illusion, prevents the tragic disorder of life from annihilating the individual: this is the cathartic function of art, which therefore does not explain the meaning of life and pain, but on the contrary gives them a meaning.
During the vernissage a welcome drink will be offered while Jazz musicians will play live.
