My Abstract paintings attempt to explore the structure and surface of Painting, I approach each painting as a place of experimentation and learning about colour and a space of escape! I intentionally empty out narrative to explore my thoughts, feelings and memories with no pre-determined outcome, just random free mark making with Paint. I am interested in the interaction of light and pigment, how it reflects the paint surface, this is an ongoing search for my own language in painting.
Artist Bio & CV
I was born in Dagenham, Essex in the United Kingdom. I loved Art lessons at school and after leaving I worked in the West End of London as a Graphic Designer until 1995. I took a break in my career to travel all over Europe and spent some time living in Greece. Whilst travelling I continued to draw and paint and finally to the USA painting Murals. I was in love with Painting and this lead me back to England to study for a Degree in Fine Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design. Whilst studying there I received the ‘David Haste Landscape AWARD in the year 2000. After graduation I became a teacher and I was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching from Christchurch University. I have taught at the University of East London and also at Lewisham college. In the period 2006 to 2009 I worked at Science Ltd as Studio Assistant Manager for the Artist Damien Hirst. After leaving I took the position of Curator for the Departure Foundation in the UK organizing group exhibitions. I was also Artist in residence at the Docklands in Canary Wharf Exchange Tower in London, where I was invited to organize group shows and founded a small online gallery called the Stowaway Gallery.
My paintings were selected and sold two years running in an international exhibition at the Cork Street Open in 2013 and 2014. I have recently exhibited in New York at the Rouge Space Gallery NY and my paintings were selected for the 2018 Spectrum Miami Art Fair (Booth101)
I currently work as an Artist for ‘Pop Up Painting’ in London UK and my paintings are represented by the Gallery DAC ‘Design Art Concepts’ in Miami, USA.
