Jamie Boyd è nato a Melbourne nel 1948. La sua famiglia si trasferisce a Londra nel 1959 e lì studia brevemente negli anni Sessanta presso la Central School of Art and Design. Come pittore, continua la tradizione della famiglia Boyd che ha collettivamente apportato un profondo contributo all’arte Australiana. È comunque altrettanto significante che Jamie Boyd abbia affermato una sua propria reputazione come pittore a sé stante.
Ha vissuto la maggior parte della sua vita da adulto a Londra, ritornando periodicamente in Australia dove si è riunito con i paesaggi del Shoalhaven con la sua più intangibile bellezza e forza. Il suo inconfondibile lavoro tuttavia riflette la sua costante influenza dei paesaggi australiani.
