“The value of a discussion largely depends on the diversity of competing opinions. If it hadn’t been for the Tower of Babel we would have had to invent it. ”
A new artistic exhibition at Galleria360 reflects on the infinite communicative possibilities of art and the constant ability of artists to redefine new expressive and conceptual alphabets. It is the “Languages of Art” exhibition that will be inaugurated on Friday 29th April 2022 at 7.30 pm, in via Borgo Ognissanti 77r, Florence. During the vernissage Jazz musicians will play live. According to the decree law of 7th January 2022, n. 1, access to the gallery is allowed only to visitors in possession of the covid-19 green pass.
Through different expressive methodologies, international artists are confronted with the richness of an increasingly varied but also chaotic artistic panorama.
In Genesis the legendary construction of the tower of Babel becomes a metaphor for human pride that goes beyond the limits but also for the difficulty of communication in the absence of a shared language. In fact, in the well-known biblical passage it is said that the descendants of Noah wanted to build a magnificent city with a tower that reached the sky; the Lord to punish them for such arrogance afflicted them with the confusion of tongues so that they no longer understood each other and that the project was abandoned.
Even contemporary art can appear to be “Babelic” since it uses multiple codes and expressions that can sometimes be difficult to understand.
The artists of “Languages of Art” opening up to a cultural syncretism, to the contamination of different cultures and languages, show us the interpretative keys of this broad panorama of identity and different perspectives. In fact, the “Languages of Art” artistic exhibition gives life to a creative symposium capable of touching the deepest chords of the human soul, showing us how the plurality of languages actually reflects the regenerating power of art.
