"My work is the reconstruction of myself (....) My work is about the fragility of life and the difficulty to love and be loved (...) We must impregnate the matter of sentiments (...) The emotions are projected outside, in a form and in a space. The unconscious is brought into consciousness through art. "
On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Galleria360 organizes an exhibition entitled “Arte Donna”, which aims to promote the knowledge of various female artistic expressions and to celebrate the binomial Women and Art. Few, over the course of the centuries, the opportunities and possibilities of expression for women, imprisoned and forced by the wall of distrust of a dominant culture all male. Since the sixties the great protagonists of the Gender Art, as Louise Bourgeois, Vanessa Beecroft, Ana Mendieta, Barbara Kruger, have strongly denounced the widespread stereotype of female beings as passive icon of beauty, but also that of a women relegated to the role of mother-wife and procreative. In fact, from the myth of the mother-earth woman to the most recent clash of the sexes, the female figure carries impressed in their own flesh the marks of a society made up of injustices, claims, exploitation or otherwise emancipation, achievements, and potential revolutionaries.
The art director Angela Fagu and the architect Riccardo Piagentini have selected female artists, from all over the world by signing a outfitting that carries the visitor in a multi-voice narration and of dual significance, intimate and universal. “Arte Donna” is an invitation to the awareness of different worlds and aims to promote a turning point and commencement of an artistic action promoting change and, at the same time, the awareness on the status of women. These are important issues, still elusive for most people, including for the same protagonists, namely women, upon which exhibitions such as “Arte Donna” invite us to reflect.
The inauguration of “Arte Donna” exhibition will take place on 4th Friday of March 2016 at 19:00 in via the Prato 11r, Florence. During the Vernissage, it will be offered a welcome cocktail while Jazz musicians’ll play live, creating a pleasant combination between art and music.
